CPS Still Seeking Public Assisting with Catalytic Converter Thefts

Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall Police Service (CPS) is continuing to ask members of the public to come forward if they have been a victim of a catalytic converter theft since July 2021, and have not reported the incident to police.

The CPS has noted an increase to thefts of catalytic converters and is seeking public assistance in ensuring all incidents are reported to police.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 22nd, 2021 and charged with four counts of breach of undertaking for contacting his girlfriend, failing to notify a change of address to police, as well as failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on November 20th, the man was located in the residence of his girlfriend, despite his conditions, and an investigation ensued. On November 22nd, 2021, he attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

SHOPLIFTING x 2 , BREACH x 2

Cornwall, ON – Kenneth Gass, 52, of Cornwall was arrested on November 22nd, 2021 and charged with two counts of theft under $5000 and breach of recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on November 14th and November 20th, 2021, the man attended two local businesses and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the stores on either occasion. On November 22nd, 2021, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 43-year-old woman of Maple Ridge, British Columbia was arrested on November 22nd, 2021 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged in 2004 and 2005, the woman repeatedly contacted her ex-boyfriend, as well as his family, after being warned to stop. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On November 22nd, 2021, the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on February 22nd, 2022. Her name was not released as it would identify the victims in the matter.

 

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on November 22nd, 2021 and charged with domestic assault and mischief. It is alleged between January and November, the woman had assaulted her boyfriend, as well as damaged his television on November 22, 2021 during an argument. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 8th, 2022. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

 

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on November 22nd, 2021 and charged with domestic assault and mischief. It is alleged during an altercation with his girlfriend on November 22nd, 2021, the man assaulted her and damaged an electronic device belonging to her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 8th, 2022. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
