Cornwall Community Police Service sergeant, Shawn Martelle is facing 18 charges filed under the Police Services Act regulations.
Sgt. Martelle was charged with 11 counts of neglect of duty, five counts of discreditable conduct and two counts of deceit.
A hearing, held by electronic means, is set to take place at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 23.
CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, THREATS, INTIMIDATION
Cornwall, ON – A 27-year-old Monkland man was arrested on Dec. 30, 2017 and charged with criminal harassment, threats and intimidation. It is alleged on Dec. 29, 2017 the man communicated with his ex-girlfriend on several occasions despite having been told not to. During this time the man also made threats and police were contacted to investigate. The man was located by police, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
BREACH
Cornwall, ON – Tyler Lalonde, 20 of Cornwall was arrested on Dec. 31, 2017 and charged with breach of recognizance for failing to sign in with police and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during the month of Dec. 2017 the man failed to sign in as directed. On Dec. 31, 2017 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 13, 2018.
MISCHIEF, BREACH
Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on Dec. 31, 2017 and charged with mischief and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on Dec. 31, 2017 the youth damaged a door at her residence and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
IMPAIRED, OVER 80
Cornwall, ON – Joseph Lumsden, 54 of Cornwall was arrested on Dec. 31, 2017 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol on Dec. 31, 2017 while in the area of Sixth Street West. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 16, 2018.
Cornwall, ON – Jacques Dancereau, 50 of Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 1, 2018 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol on Jan. 1, 2018 while in the area of St, Felix Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 16, 2018.
Cornwall, ON – Amber Cook, 34 of Hogansburg was arrested on Jan. 1, 2018 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged the woman was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol on Jan. 1, 2018 when she was involved in an accident at York Street and Fifth Street. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 16, 2018.
BREACH
Cornwall, ON – Marc Racine, 42 of St.Andrews West was arrested on Jan. 1, 2018 and charged with breach of undertaking for being outside his residence between the hours of 10pm-6am and for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged the man was found to be in breach of his conditions during a traffic stop on Jan. 1, 2018. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 30, 2018.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Richard Saulnier, 38 of Cornwall was arrested on Jan. 1, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on Dec. 19, 2017 for a weapons charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Jan. 1, 2018 while investigating an unrelated matter the man was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on Feb. 1, 2018.
