CORNWALL, Ontario – St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and the Swinging B’s are teaming up to organize a chili cook off fundraiser in support of Carefor Hospice Cornwall on Saturday, April 14, 2018.

The chili contest will be taking place at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church located at 1509 Second St. W. from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children or $25 for the whole family. Tickets are available at Hospice Cornwall, 1507 Second St. W. or by calling Helen MacCallum at 613-933-4052.

After dining on delicious and hot chili, guests will be able to cool off with a “create your own” ice cream Sundae.

MacCallum is both a member of the Swinging B’s and St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and said that both organizations wanted to do something to support the good and difficult work done at Hospice Cornwall.

“We’ve all had a parent or a relative or a neighbour who have unfortunately had to use their services,” she said.

There are five categories where the chili chefs can compete, Mild, Medium, Hot, Vegetarian and Professional. Winners in each category get free entrance into next year’s event.

The chili’s will be judged by a celebrity team including Cornwall City Councillor David Murphy, Troy Vaillancourt of Century 21 and Town Crier Wes Libby.

There will also be a silent auction at the event with items from crafters, artisans and corporate donors, which include, but is not limited to Cornwall Mazda, The All New Restaurant, Elegance College, Sunshine Restaurant, Cornwal Physio Therapy, Cornwall Massage Therapy, Endless Roads RV Centre, Elco Electric, Le Lotus Studio and more.

What better way to driveaway the April Showers than a nice, warm chili.
