ONTARIO – Starting June 24, 2018, the public can help support the Ontario SPCA by making a donation at any of the more than 660 LCBO stores throughout Ontario. Donation boxes for the Ontario SPCA will be displayed at LCBO checkout counters until July 21, 2018.
Through its province-wide network of close to 50 Communities, the Ontario SPCA is one of the largest, most responsive animal welfare organizations in the country, providing care and shelter for tens of thousands of animals every year. Funds raised from the LCBO Provincial Donation Box Program will support Ontario SPCA programs and services, including sheltering and adoptions, humane education, reducing pet overpopulation, emergency rescue and treatment, reuniting lost pets with their owners, spay/neuter services and Rescue & Relief™ services. By making a donation, you’re supporting our furry friends, big and small, who have been abused, abandoned, or are in need of help.
“Pets are an important part of every community and we want to thank the LCBO’s generous customers and supportive staff for their help in raising critical funds to continue the life-saving work that takes place each and every day at Ontario SPCA Animal Centres throughout the province,” says Daryl Vaillancourt, Senior Director, Humane Programs & Community Outreach, Ontario SPCA. “This is a highly cost-effective method to raise funds, which allows us to reach even more animals in need to give them the second chance they deserve.”

The Ontario SPCA is one of 27 provincial and numerous local charities that will benefit from LCBO’s province-wide donation box program in 2018. In fiscal 2016-17, LCBO raised a total of more than $13.3 million for charities through in-store fundraising, special programs and initiatives. In addition, LCBO’s annual dividend transfer to the Ontario government, which totaled $2.06 billion in fiscal year 2016-17ending March 31, 2017, excluding taxes, supports a wide range of important government programs, services and priorities, including health care and education.
