CORNWALL, Ontario – The Optimist Club’s first ever Little Rascal Pinewood Derby Race is taking place Saturday, Sept. 22 at their club house at 301 Sunnyside Ave.

“It is an event we want to do for the kids,” said Race Master Rick Dore. “It gets them away from the electronics and working with their mom or dad.”

Cost of entry is $10 and that covers the cost of the race car and a hot dog lunch the day of the event.

There are currently 25 cars left.

Kids can create their own cars with the help of Dore and Jody Archambeault. The Optimists are having a Pit Day on Saturday Aug. 25 and again on Sept. 8 where kids can carve their cars out of a template and then paint them themselves.

The event will happen rain or shine and the Optimists have created a 30 ft. race track.

For more information, or to sign up, contact Race Master Rick Dore at 613-360-7116 or visit the event Facebook page here.
