CORNWALL, Ontario – Yoga Instructor Paula Labonte is holding her first ever Puppy Yoga session for clients of Sexual Assault Support Services for Women of Cornwall, SD&G, and Akwesasne on Friday, March 18.

“Life just needs a little bit of joy right now and what doesn’t give more joy than puppies,” Labonte said.

Clients will be enjoying their yoga session under the supervision of nine Aussie-doodle and Labradoodle puppies and Labonte said that her clients were very excited to take part in this new activity.

Since it is currently March Break, clients are allowed to bring friends or children aged 10 and up to participate.

Labonte said that if the class is popular she would be open to holding more sessions.

She feels that yoga and movement can be an important part of the healing process for someone who has experienced trauma.

SASS has seen a significant rise in the number of clients in need of their services in recent years, with dozens of women reaching out to SASS in need of support. Any woman who is experiencing abuse or has experienced abuse can reach out to SASS by calling (613) 932-1755 and pressing 0.
