CORNWALL, Ontario – Every year the United Way of SD&G showcases the good work they do at their annual United Way breakfast.
The breakfast will be taking place Friday, Sept. 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Cornwall Legion. As always, a delicious breakfast will be prepared by the Cornwall Kinsmen.
This year’s guest speaker will be Tish Humphries, founder and President of Beyond 21.
“Her story is a great example of our Changing Lives initiative,” said United Way Director of Operations Meagan Bingley.
Beyond 21 is a United Way supported organization that helps adults with complex needs stay active and connected to their community.
The Beyond 21 program has 42 participants and 50 volunteers and is just one example of how the United Way’s support is changing lives in the Cornwall community.
Throughout the year, the United Way of SD&G is raising money to help support more than a dozen local agencies and programs.
“The money that you donate makes a difference and chances lives in the community,” said Bingley. “The money you donate stays local.”
Some of their annual events and fundraising drives include the annual and much anticipated United Way Wine & Gourmet Tastings, which is taking place this year on Nov. 24 and the payroll campaign.
Local businesses can choose to take part in the United Way payroll campaign. Their payroll campaign makes it easy to support the United Way as an amount of an employee’s choosing can be taken off of their paycheck and donated directly to the cause. By donating through their employer, individuals also get a tax receipt on their T4 slip.
Some businesses also provided incentives to take part in the campaign including free lunches, dress down days and more.

This year will also see the return of the United Way Celebration Sleigh at Baxtrom’s Your Independent Grocer.
This year’s Celebration Sleigh will have Baxtrom’s and LCBO gift cards, over $1,000 in prizes, groceries and more.
