The Seaway Valley Theatre Company is set to present Disney’s Finding Nemo Jr., a condensed musical adaptation of the beloved 2003Disney/Pixar film, on November 30 and December 1 at Cornwall’s Aultsville Theatre. Directed and choreographed by Michael DeWolfe, the production features a 29-member cast ranging from ages 8 to 15, playing a remarkable 64 speaking roles.

“This musical is unique because it doesn’t exist as a full Broadway production,” said DeWolfe. “It’s a standalone show, about an hour and a half long, with incredible music written by the team behind Frozen. The music is vibrant, fun, and full of life—it’s really special.”

The production is dedicated to Charlotte Light, a cast member who passed away in September after a tragic bicycle accident. Her familyapproved the dedication, and her memory remains central to the show.

With over 80 volunteers contributing, the production emphasizes creative set and costume design. “We’ve made everything from scratch—pool noodles, Styrofoam, and six months of work on huge coral islands,” DeWolfe explained. “Instead of full fish costumes, we opted for colorful street clothes that reflect the characters’ personalities.”

DeWolfe praised the young cast for their energy and adaptability. “The actor playing Nemo, Emery, is a natural despite this being his first show. Kids bring such vibrancy to the stage—it’s sometimes easier to work with them than adults, who can be more reserved,” he said.

Performances are scheduled for Saturday, November 30, at 1:30 and 4:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 1, at 1:30 p.m. Tickets, priced at $25and $18, are available online, by phone, or at the door.

As DeWolfe concluded, “This production is already a success. It’s about the experience for the kids and creating something the community will love.”
