BONVILLE, Ontario – During Sunday Breakfast at the Cornwall Township Lion’s Club, retired Captain Terry Birch was honoured. The Reb Ribbon Forces along with the Dedicated Few, a local Riding Club presented the Veteran with the 150 Year Canadian Legion Medal.

Perry Montgomery, President of the Dedicated Few Riding Club said, “Today the Dedicated Few Riding Club is here to support the Red Ribbon Forces in their efforts to thank a true Canadian, retired Captain Terry Birch, who served Canada with 35 years of service.”

Eleanor Bookman, co-founder of the Red Ribbon Forces thanked the Cornwall Township Lion’s Club and Dedicated Few for supporting their efforts with the Canadian Military. Bookman remarked on Capt. Birch’s service which included being wounded from a land mine while in the armoured corps and serving on the bomb squad in Quebec during the FLQ Crisis. She thanked him for his military service as she presented Capt. Birch with the medal. She said, “Captain Birch has gone through some rough times and we want to thank him for his service. We want to present him with the 150 Year Canadian Legion Medal for his service.”

Capt. Birch was also presented with Legion Belt from Brian Goodfellow, the other co-founder of the Red Ribbon Forces. Goodfellow said, “I have become friends with Terry and must say; we need more people like him, a true Canadian.”

After being recognized for his service Capt. Birch said, “Thank the farmer for the food and thank the soldier for protecting it.”
