CORNWALL, Ontario – This weekend, 26 locations from Morrisburg to Alexandria played host to the celebrated Apples & Art Studio Tour.
Now in its 26th year, the tour has since grown to include a multitude of different art forms, from oil on canvas to costume and textile. In addition to the art portion of the event, the tour also revels in the history of the McIntosh Apple, which originated in Eastern Ontario.
This year, the ladies at OBO Studios had more to celebrate than their love of art. Having recently announced that they will be moving to their new location at 204 Second Street East in the coming months, owners Tracy-Lynn Chisholm and Emily MacLeod took the opportunity to share their excitement with visitors.
“These are people we see once a year at this event,” said MacLeod. “So, it’s nice to catch up when they come in for Apples & Art. The event mostly attracts art lovers from around the area.”
With a moving sale chock-full of lovely artwork, MacLeod says that while they have enjoyed the years of art and friendship at 44 Pitt, it was time for a change.
“I think people are kind of surprised because this is such a great space,” said MacLeod. “It was a big decision, and there were a lot of different considerations we took into account.”
Hoping to be fully moved in by the new year, the new space will allow for better visibility, and above all, more space.
“It’s going to be great to have a dedicated space for showing,” said MacLeod. “It’s a great big chunk the chew, but we’re very excited.”
