CORNWALL, Ontario – Rachel’s Kids are hailing their first annual Suds & Sap event as a success.
Running from Friday, Jan. 11 to Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Cornwall Civic Complex, the event saw roughly 700 people attend and Rachel’s Kids raised an estimated $30,000 through ticket sales and a silent auction.
“It is spectacular,” said Dr. Rachel Navaneelan. “As always, the communtiy has come out to support us. All I’ve been hearing is that people hope we do this every year.”
Dr. Navaneelan confirmed that Suds & Sap would be returning next year.
“The response has been fantastice and I’ve heard very positive feedback,” said event chair Trevor MacDonald.
With the strong response from the community, Kim Lauzon, Executive Director of Rachel’s Kids hoped to see this event become a staple with the organization.
“We’re growing as a non-profit and we’re looking for a new staple event,” she said.
The event was a marriage between two iconic Canadian favourites, beer and maple syrup.
There were more than 15 vendors in attendance as well as live music from Bang on the Ear, Hadrians Wall, the Shiners and Fridge Full of Empties.
