CORNWALL, Ontario – The Heart of Fashion Fundraiser at OBO Studio delivered a glamorous, sold out evening in support of Maison Baldwin House on Thursday, Oct. 18.

Community members showed their support by modelling clothes from Serendipity Boutique, FDJ-French Dressing Jeans, Axis Eyewear glasses, Crush Lane jewellery, high-end fur coats and designer bags. Model’s hair and makeup was provided by The Loft Salon.

Tickets to the event cost $100 and entitled guests to wine and food, provided by a number of local restaurants including ESCA and Forage. Guests could participate in a silent auction of approximately 40 donated items during the show, and a live auction of all items modeled following the runway portion. OBO Studio was also auctioning a custom denim jacket in support of the fundraiser.

Speeches were made throughout the evening highlighting the sobering statistics of domestic violence. One in five women experience some form of abuse in an intimate relationship in Canada and 83 per cent of spousal abuse victims are female. Speakers commended the work of Baldwin House and the support given to local women and children who are transitioning from an abusive circumstance to a secure environment.

“We really do rely on the support of the community,” said Danielle MacNiel, Public Educator and Volunteer Coordinator at Baldwin House. “We are hoping it will be an annual thing…it’s local art and local fashion meeting in the same space.”
