CORNWALL, Ontario – The sixth and final Cornwall Comedy Festival show of the year will feature Rob Pue and Rob Bebenek, otherwise known as The Renaissance Apes, on Friday, Dec. 7 at Nav Centre at 9 p.m.

Shawn Fowler, event organizer and founder, said that attendees can expect good, respectful fun during the night of hilarious stand-up. Fowler noted that Bebenek is becoming widely recognized in the Canadian comedy industry and Pue has recently debuted at the top of the charts on iTunes.

“It gets better every year,” said Fowler about the event. “I think Cornwall has come leaps and bounds when it comes to acceptance.”

Since the first festival in 2014, $30,000 has been raised for local non-profits. The upcoming show will support the following agencies: Beyond 21, Roy and Cher’s Animal Rescue, Aultsville Theatre, Habitat For Humanity, Carefor (specific to Social Club), Bereaved Families of Cornwall-Ontario and the Martintown Community Parks & Rec Association.

Fowler is very appreciative of the support he has received.

“It has been a tough growing process,” he said. “For the first few years it was hard to get people to come out…but it’s getting easier.”

“It’s a lot different from what you would watch on television,” he added. “It’s all about the atmosphere when you come for live comedy.”

Fowler explained that he wanted to bring comedy to our region of the province as most shows only take place in major, neighbouring cities.

Tickets to the show are $25 at the Civic Complex box office and at the door of the event. They can also be purchased online at cornwallcomedyfest.ca.
