GLEN WALTER, Ontario – The Knights of Columbus served a great breakfast on Sunday, Feb 25, 2018 to raise donations for Steve Poirier after his house was damaged by a fire in January.

“Lost his home, everything he had; furniture and clothes. He walked out with the clothes on his back and that was it,” said Robert Williams, who volunteered with the Knights of Columbus during the breakfast.

Steve Poirier’s house was severely damaged by an electric fire in the basement on the second of January in Glen Walter.

“I lived there since I was six years old, I always lived there,” said Steve Poirier who is also a Knight of Columbus and has volunteered for similar events in the past.

The breakfast fundraiser expected to gather several thousand dollars to donate to Poirier and his family while hosting nearly three hundred people for breakfast.

Steve’s grandchildren came out to help serve breakfast as well.

“The fire department did a great job for what they did but it was a total loss and it is more than challenging when you hear the address and it’s your homestead,” said Brian Poirier, the deputy chief for the fire department in Glen Walter.
