CORNWALL, Ontario – The organizers of Girls Night Out are putting together a new event this April in support of St. John’s Ambulance.

On Saturday, April 14 Girls Night Out will be hosting a Mixed Party Fundraiser at the Army, Navy, Air Force Club in support of St. John’s Ambulance.

“I have noticed the important role that St John’s Ambulance plays in our community,” said organizer Naomi Lamarche. “A co-worker of mine has been a longtime volunteer and we often discussed the lack of funds and the fact that often the volunteers have been using their own money to cover expenses.”

Lamarche explained that after learning more about the group’s dedication, she felt she had to do what she could to help out.

“I was offered a chance to go to a meeting to discuss their role in our community and I found them to be a very honest and hardworking group,” she said. “I felt that they are a very important group in our community and could benefit and would appreciate any help Girls Night Out could offer. So therefore, we are honored to host our first Girls Night Out mixed fundraising event.”

Diane Lavinscas is St. John’s Ambulance Training Co-ordinator for Cornwall and the surrounding area and said that the organization was excited to be included in this event.

“Our branch is very appreciative to be taken on for this fundraiser,” she said.

Lavinscas said that the money raised would go towards supporting summer services. The summer is one of the busiest times for St. John’s Ambulance as they are usually on-site at festivals and fairs which are all-day and often multiple day events. The money will also go towards medical supplies, gas, and new uniforms for their volunteers.

At the Mixed Party Fundraiser there will be karaoke with male and female special guest singers, a silent auction, a 50/50 draw and snack bar.

“I am honored to have four of my Girls Night Out singers joined by some local male karaoke talent entertaining everyone at this event and DJing the event will be Ryan from Awesome Entertainment,” said Lamarche.

Tickets are $15 and are available at the Army, Navy, Air Force Club, at the door, or by contacting Naomi Lamarche or Claudette Wanzer and their phone numbers are 613-363-8948 and 613-933-4519 respectively. Claudette can also be reached by email for ticket purchases at cleo1946@bell.net.
