Aline Makariak
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Aline Makariak, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, surrounded by family, at the age of 90.
Born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Aline took great pride in her Acadian heritage. She dedicated many years to teaching elementary school before working with the community at the Cornwall Public Library.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—cherishing time with family, sharing laughter with dear friends, and attending her senior club activities. A devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Raptors, she rarely missed a game and loved cheering on her favorite teams.
Predeceased by the love of her life, Fred Makariak, in 2003, Aline leaves behind her children, Jeannie (Réal), Paul (Michelle), and Lois (Yves); her grandchildren, Julian, Lyndsay (Melissa), Adriaana (Max), Collin, Joshua, Tierra, and Stéphane; and her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brayden, Isabelle, and John.
She was a loving sister to the late Carmel (late Raymond), late Leola (late Henry), late Elva (late John), Raymond (Geraldine), late Norman (Jean Iris), Cleo (late Francine). She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Arrangements, have been entrusted to M JOHN SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 314 Pitt St. Cornwall (613-938-1039)
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal service. To honor Aline’s memory, donations to a charity of your choice are welcomed. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for your support.
Always remembering her love and kindness, her spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
Mom, may you dance among the stars.
