ALLAN GORDON SNETSINGER – Passed peacefully with family by his side at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 Allan Gordon Snetsinger of Cornwall; age 90 years. Beloved husband of Elizabeth “Bette” (nèe Brown) Snetsinger. Loving father of Janet (Bill) Helmer of Dunrobin, James (Joanne) of Sherwood Park, AB, and David (Patsy) Snetsinger of Iroquois. Cherished grandfather of Allison (Lyle) Helmer, Adam (Andrea) Helmer, Andrew (Karlee) Snetsinger, Paige (Simon) Butterfield, Sarah and Alex Snetsinger, and great-grandfather of William, Blaire, Blake, Brooke, and Jamie. Dear brother of Francis Blaettler. Allan will be lovingly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Doris Snetsinger and his school-aged brother, James.
Allan’s life passion was running Snetsinger’s Hardware Store on Pitt Street for over sixty years. Heavily involved and supportive of his community, Allan was Chair of the Board of the Cornwall General Hospital, former President and Founding Member of the Optimist Club. Allan was past President of Cornwall Masonic Corinthian Lodge and member and past President of Karnac Shriners. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Shah and the staff of Heartwood for all their care and compassion.
Resting at McArthur Bros. & MacNeil Funeral Home & Chapel, 428 Second Street East, Cornwall (613-932-6300) on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 with a Masonic Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m. and visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Trinity Anglican Church, 105 Second Street West, Cornwall on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at the St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery, Ingleside, on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, Montreal greatfully appreciated.
