Allan Peter “Pete” Sleeman
May 15, 1939 – July 19, 2023
With heavy hearts the family announce the passing of ALLAN PETER ‘PETE’ SLEEMAN, on his own terms. Pete courageously chose MAID after receiving a recent diagnosis of terminal cancer.
Dear husband to Donna (Saxton). Loving father to Leah (Ken) Dohei of Edmonton, Lynne (Mark Henderson) Gaucher of Ottawa, Tracy (Mike Jarvo) of Cornwall and Allan (Lainey) and father-in-law of Paula Sleeman. Poppy to Allan, Ryan, Adam, Heidi, Sean, Barrett, Kelly, Brodie, Kasey and Logan and great grandfather of 7. Pete was predeceased by his parents Mabel Sleeman and Ernie Sleeman.
Pete spent 8 1/2 years in the Canadian Army which included a 12-month term in the Middle East serving United Nations and several years as a paratrooper. After his release from the service, he returned to Cornwall and worked in sales, as a bus driver for the city, Manager of Cornwall Legion and a driver for Nav Canada until retirement in 2021. He was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 297 and a member of RCAFA Wing 424. Pete had a sharp sense of humor, he chatted with everyone he met and he boated and loved the waters of the St. Lawrence River and we’ll take him there one more time.
The family is accepting of Pete’s decision to be cremated, with no service or visitation. If you choose to give a donation in Pete’s name, make it to your charity of choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, ON (613-938-3888). Online condolences can be left at www.wilsonfuneralhome.ca
