Alpin MacGregor

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alpin MacGregor surrounded by family at Cornwall Hospice on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. Alpin was born on July 31, 1942 to Mora (MacLeod) and Alpin Angus MacGregor. He lived his entire life on the family farm north of Williamstown, Ontario. Alpin was a cherished brother to Malcolm MacGregor (Heather), his twin Christena Dunbar (John), and the late Jean Canham (Earl). He was also a beloved uncle to many nephews and nieces who have fond memories and funny stories from their time with him on the farm. He was a loving and devoted husband to Sharon (MacNaughton), his wife of 39 years, and a fun-loving, supportive father to Karen (Joe Roberts), Mary (Doug Richardson), and Scott (Dina Predestin). Alpin was also a proud grandfather to: Jasmine, D’Andre, Shawn, Jack, and Brynn, who always brought a smile to his face. His quick-witted sense of humour, thoughtful advice, and unwavering positive outlook will be hard to live without. Alpin loved his community and found many ways to give back. He was a founding member of the Lancaster Optimist club and an active volunteer with the club for 30 years. He also spent many years volunteering for the Williamstown fair and served on the board for 11 years. He was a committee member for the Char-Lan Food Grains Bank, an elder at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, and a dependable neighbour and friend. We would like to sincerely thank his doctors Dr. Carson, Dr. Poilly, Dr. Arab, and the late Dr. Hodder. We would also like to acknowledge the wonderful nurses and PSWs who cared for Alpin at his home and the outstanding care that was provided to Alpin and his family by staff and volunteers in hospice. Relatives and friends may call at the Munro & Morris Funeral Home in Lancaster on Friday, February 15th, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 11 am in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Martintown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Martintown, Char-Lan Food Grains Bank, or to the Cornwall Hospice. As a memorial to Alpin, a tree will be planted in a memory woods. Alpin will be sorely missed, by his family, his friends, and the community he loved so much.  www.munromorris.com
