Beverly Ann Ropchan

28 December, 1946 – 26 January, 2021.

Loving family and dear friends of Beverly Ropchan (nee Ferguson) were saddened by her passing on January 26, 2021, at the age of 74. After bravely battling cancer for the past six years, Beverly passed away in peace at home, where it was her wish to be, with her adoring husband, Chris by her side. As the eldest of 13 children, Bev was an exceptional woman whose natural tendency and purpose in life was to take care of others. She was blessed to have many close family members and friends who truly admired her and returned her love sincerely. Her caring nature shone through in her long career as a dedicated Health Care Aide at Chateau Gardens in Lancaster. She was also an avid volunteer in the community and has been recognized for her outstanding care for Alzheimer’s patients and remarkable contributions to the A.L.S. Society of Ontario and to Hospice Cornwall. She was kind, generous, loving, friendly, and could radiate cheerfulness, even through the toughest of times. Bev’s perseverance through her illness was attributable to her determination to continue to live to take care of others, which was what she had done extraordinarily well throughout her life. Beverly is predeceased by her mother, Dorna Ferguson, and her dear nephew, Peter Ferguson, whom she cherished in life. Beverly loved the good times with her close family members and lifelong friends in the Cornwall area and from far and wide across the continent, as she and Chris delighted in their snowbird winters at Tanglewood in Florida. She revelled in celebrations and gatherings and dancing with the country music tunes playing to give her gladness. Friends and family were always important to her as she loved to get together for coffee, chats, and larks. It was what brought her most joyfulness and laughter when she shared her affectionate hugs and kisses, accompanied with an “I love you” or an “I love you more.” She sure will be missed by all of us who valued her preciously, and not least by her pride and joy Chimo, the most spoiled dog in the whole wide world. We love you Bev unendingly — XXX OOO until we meet again. Beverly over and over again expressed that she was eternally grateful to her dearest friends and family members, inlaws, and siblings and their families, especially Lawrence (Diane), Gary (Nicky), Linda (Gilbert), Ricky (Brenda), Derek (Lynda), Barbara (Glenn), Garrett, and others too, who went out of their way and helped her to enjoy life to the fullest through the good and latterly through the struggles. Chris is thankful to family and friends for the sincere outpouring of support and kindness through Beverly’s illness and beyond, and along with Sean, Kathleen (Mike) and family, and Bev’s loving siblings, we are all grateful to everyone who helped us to take good care of her as well as we could. We are likewise grateful to Dr. Nicholas and the oncology and chemotherapy staff who have been kind and caring and especially to Dr. Poilly and to the many nurses who made it possible for Bev to stay at home for as long as she did and right to the end.  Online messages of condolence may be made in the obituary section of: www.lahaiesullivan.ca
