It is with great sadness the family announces his sudden passing on Monday, February 19, 2024 at the Cornwall Community Hospital, surrounded by family, at the age of 99 years.

Calvin was a loving husband, father, stepfather, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Calvin is predeceased by his first wife Ethel (née James) and by his second wife Queena Jean, (née Bingley).

Beloved father of Susan Bough (David), Valerie Bissonette, and John Scott.

Beloved stepfather to Greg Labonté (Donna) and Derek Labonte.

Adored Grandfather of Shawn (Kathy), Sandasha, Scott (Lindsay), Jana, Kelly, Rolland and Tanya. Proud Great-Grandfather of Kyra, Jenna, Kenzie, Reid, Piper, Calvin, Zane and Rylan.

Predeceased by his father Mackenzie Scott and mother Carrie (nee Tracy) and his brother Chellis, his half brother Clare Scott, his two half sisters Geraldine Gilbert and Mary Weatherbe and his sister-in-law Beatrice (née Fobert).

Calvin enlisted with the Canadian Navy and served overseas during World War II, after which time he returned to Cornwall and joined the Cornwall Community Police Service (CCPS). He proudly served the City from 1948 as a constable and rose the ranks to Detective Inspector when he retired in 1985.

In 1983, Calvin received the Police Exemplary Service Medal from the Office of Canada’s Governor General.

Calvin lived much of his life along the shores of the St. Lawrence River. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, organic gardener and vintner.

The Family will receive friends at the M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, 341 Pitt Street, (613) 938-1039 across from City Hall on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 2 pm to 4 pm, & 7 pm to 9 pm. And from 9 am until time of service on Monday March 4, 2024.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 18318 County Road 2, Cornwall, ON.at 11:00 a.m. with Father Marc Piche officiating.

The family acknowledges Veterans Affairs for their ongoing support over the years.

Special thanks to the dedicated doctors, especially Dr. J.P. Bergeron and to Caitlyn his Personal Support worker and the medical and support staff at the Cornwall Community Hospital for their excellent care and compassion shown for our dear Calvin.
