Claire Besner
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Claire Besner (nee Doth) on December 10th,2024 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Bruno Besner. Cherished sister of the late Stella Metcalfe (late Harvey), Vanita Mac Donald (late Ronald), the late Gilles Doth (Irene) and Claude Doth (Doreen). Sister-in-law of the late Leo Besner (late Lorraine), late Ernest Besner (late Lorraine), late Rene Besner (Thelma), late Theresa Villeneuve (late Frank), late Janet Leblanc (late Edward), and Claudette McAllister (Murray). Beloved Aunt of Susan Burnett (Dan), Donna Nadeau (Mark), Karen Rouleau (Jason), Kelly Thieroff. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews on the Besner side.
Claire was known for her kindness, generosity, and dedication to her family and her community. She spent her career as a Grade 1 teacher at Maxville Public School. Claire was very well known in Maxville, her hometown. Claire’s love of children was her true passion in life, always giving to those who needed a helping hand either in Canada or abroad. Her generosity was truly admirable.
Claire’s love of her Great nieces and nephews brought her such comfort and joy in her later years. Bentley, Bella, Adelyn, Brooklyn, Corbin, Caleb, Brilynn, Camden and Bennett along with their parents Kelly Thieroff, Kyla Armitage (Ryan), Caitlin Hartwick (Chris), Brennan Burnett (Karrie Lynn) and Trevor Nadeau (Sam) will always have a special angel watching over them.
Claire was a proud member and Past President of the St. James CWL. When Bruno was living, they were both active volunteers with the Glengarry Highland Games. Claire also acted as a judge for the Horticultural Society. Claire was also very involved in contributing to the writing of the Centennial Book of Maxville.
Claire could often be found volunteering at The Maxville manor and helping with the Church.
Claire’s hobbies included Bridge, reading, gardening, and you would often see her walking about in her beloved Maxville.
Bruno was the love of Claire’s life, and we have so many wonderful memories of the two of them at family gatherings.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Villa, Quinn House, for the excellent care and compassion Claire received. Special thanks to the St. James CWL, Yves and Joanne Laflamme, Nancy Marleau, and Rieky Jans.

Funeral arrangements under the care of Munro & Morris Funeral Home Ltd ( 20 Main ST. Maxville). A Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Saturday December 28th, 2024,
at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Burial at the Parish Cemetery. Reception to follow.
