David Charles Nicholson
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Nicholson at Toronto Western Hospital on August 11, 2021 of a heartattack at age 54. The love of his life, Miguel Magnayon, for over 25 years was with him. David was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Jean Nicholson. Cherished brother of Nancy Nicholson, Beth-Anne Nicholson (Paul), and Laurel Nicholson. Special friends, Vanessa and Emma. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Norma Magnayon. Uncle to Joel, Jennifer, Ashley, Emily, Caitlin, Jacob, Kierili and Sunny.
His infectious smile drew people into his orbit. His caring, humour and passion for life impacted others in a positive way. David’s struggle as a gay man in the ’80’s
enabled him to mentor gay men in the future to be a man first and a gay man second. His chosen children had four paws. He loved tennis and travel, playing his last game just before he died. Above all, the most important person in David’s life was his husband, Miguel. David was quoted as saying, “We are all born with an internal foundation that gets cracked with hurts we experience. True love heals those cracks.” Miguel healed David’s cracks and made him whole. How fortunate they both were to find this kind of love.
