Davina Alexander
November 3, 1934 – February 18, 2025
The family of Davina Alexander are saddened to announce her passing in her 91st year. Davina Ann Alexander was born on November 3, 1934 in Riccall, Yorkshire, and raised in South Milford, Yorkshire. She passed away suddenly on Tuesday February 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Davina was predeceased by her former husband, Anthony, in 1997, she was the last of the “Betts Girls”, having been predeceased by her three sisters, Maureen, Pauline and Audrey. Her memory lives on through her four children: Stephen (Colleen), Kathryn, Isobel (Jim) Tuttle and Jonathan (Carolyn); her seven grandchildren: Ryan (Sabrina), Ashley (Matthew), Sarah (Ryan), Emma (Tanner), Carley (Joseph), Rebecca and Daniel (Jessica) and seven great-grandchildren: Grant, Norah, Elliott, Hattie, Billie, Rosie and Gwendolyn. Throughout her life Davina made homes in Yorkshire-England, Kenya-Africa, Wales-UK, Jersey-Channel Islands, and for the past 53 years, Cornwall, Ontario. Travel was one of her biggest pastimes. She realized that dream with her daughter and best friend, Kathryn. Together they travelled the world. Davina had just returned from a Caribbean cruise the day before she left us. Davina’s work life was as varied as her travels. Sewing was always a part of her life and the years she spent in the costume department at Upper Canada Village were some of her most cherished. Quilting became her passion after retiring. She was an avid quilter and produced many amazing pieces that were received with much joy. Through this interest she made many great friends.
Mum/Nana/Gran-nan loved spending time with her family and frequently hosted large family gatherings. She enjoyed entertaining friends and neighbours. Like her mother before her, Davina dedicated many hours volunteering for various community services including CCHC, Cornwall Hospice, and Blood Pressure Clinic. Although she is no longer with us, Davina’s spirit lives on through the memories she created with those she loved.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Davina’s Life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street (613-938-3888) on Sunday March 2nd at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow. As per Davina’s wish please wear spring colours. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family asks that you honour her memory by making a donation to the Carefor Hospice Cornwall or the Ontario SPCA-SD&G. Online condolences may be shared at www.wilsonfuneralhome.ca
We love and miss you Mum, and we will always hold onto the loving and fun-filled memories we all shared. Rest in peace.
