Diane Farrell (née Tessier)

June 9, 1948 – January 19, 2023

Diane Farrell (née Tessier), of London, Ontario, passed away peacefully at University Hospital on January 19, 2023, at the age of 74. Diane was the loving wife of the late Neil Farrell, devoted mother to Kirk (Kitty) and Todd (Tannis), proud grandmother to Kendra, Greydon, Hunter and Avery, and caring sister to Donald Tessier (Helene) and her late siblings Gisele, Pete and Paul. Diane was born into a boisterous and loving French-Canadian family in Cornwall. She spoke fondly and frequently of a childhood full of love, songs and revelry. Diane spent the early part of her adult life working for the federal government, building a large circle of friends in Ottawa, on the slopes and après-ski. A blind date with a young dentist led to a lifetime of love and memories with her chou-chou, Neil. They settled in London, where Diane and Neil built a wonderful life, surrounded by friends. Diane spent many fulfilling years working at London Health Sciences Centre, including long tenures at University Hospital and the South St. campus.
She loved a game of bridge, euchre or dominoes, worshiped the sun and was at her best when hosting a dinner party. Her true legacy is the incredibly long list of people who knew her as a kind, generous and loving friend. From neighbours and co-workers to friends-of-friends, fellow parishioners and beyond, all were welcome in Diane’s circle. Kirk and Todd extend their deepest gratitude to her community of friends for their love and support. We also appreciate the care and attention provided by the many nurses, doctors, PSWs and others who assisted our mother along the way.  A celebration of Diane’s life will take place in the spring.
