It is with serenity in our hearts that we announce the passing of Don William Laplante at Woodland Villa on May 1, 2021. With his wife Margaret (nee MacDonald) and eldest daughter Donna Lee McBean (Earl) of Long Sault by his side, Don passed peacefully, supported in thoughts and prayers by the rest of his children Kevin Laplante of Maxville, Cathy Wasson (Terry) Peterborough, Brenda Courtney (Don) Orangeville, Brent Laplante (Natalie Bourdeau) Summerstown and Ian Laplante (Shannon Wheeler) Williamstown. Don was proud and enjoyed the company of his grandchildren Sheena, Matthew, Dorothy, Charlie, Andrew, Jamie, Mallory, Adam, Cameron, Mary Margaret, Brandon, Courteney, Grace and Olivia; and 15 great-grandchildren. Don was born, grew up and raised his family in Grant’s Corners on Street Road. He is predeceased by his father and mother Charles and Grace Laplante and siblings, Joan Alguire (Basil), Joyce MacDonald (Mickey) and Eunice MacLeod (Glenn). He is fondly remembered by his brothers Timothy (Jean) and Alwin (Ruth) and daughter-in-law Deborah Laplante (Brown). A devoted husband, loving father and cherished grand/great grandfather, Don retired from his role as a Welding Instructor with St. Lawrence College in December 1994. In the years that followed, he focused his attention developing his craft as a bowl turner producing a number of memorable wooden pieces treasured by family, friends and many others. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the range of staff at Woodland Villa for their compassionate care to Don as well as their support to Margaret particularly over this past year.
