Douglas George Ross Lister
DOUGLAS GEORGE ROSS LISTER Passed away suddenly at home, on June 6th, 2020 in his 59th year. Born to parents Marjorie & Kenneth (predeceased) and raised as a proud Schomberg farm boy. Doug attended Banting Memorial High School excelling in football, math and science. He liked to brag that he skipped more classes than anyone and still got top marks. Doug was best known for his huge grin, booming laugh and mischief-making ways. As a talented artist, his passion for beauty shone through in his painting, cooking, gardening and successful career in carpentry. He had a passion for music and loved Rock n’ Roll – if a good song came on he could not help but sing (the wrong lyrics) and dance. Doug was a skilled card player and a Scrabble master, as he always had a way with words. He was taken much too soon and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Beloved husband and soul-mate of the late Shirley Lister (nee Loran). Loving partner to Tina Symes. Father to Jamie (James), Jason (Annette), Jeffrey, and step-father to Melaina, Josh, and Nicholas (April). Cherished grandfather of Kylie, Madison, Ashton, Matilda, Charlie, Bryson and Reece. Loving brother to Reginald (Jill) and Kevin (Brenda), whom will dearly miss all of the trouble they got into together. Doug will also be fondly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He deeply cared for all of his extended family members and worked hard to maintain those close connections. As he never missed a wedding, funeral or family reunion.
By request of the family, memorial donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation would be much appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honour of Doug Lister’s life at a later date to be announced when the COVID-19 funeral restrictions have been lifted.
Until we are able to honour Doug’s life together, we will toast to the many wonderful memories he has bestowed upon us. As he loved to say “It must be 4’o’clock somewhere”. Cheers Dad ❤️
