It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Edward Joseph LeBlanc in the warm embrace of his children on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Bracebridge, Ontario, at the age of 90 years. Beloved husband of the late Janet (née Besner) LeBlanc. Loving father of Joanne Kay (George), Peter (Jennifer), Mark (Michele) and Michael (Molly). Cherished Papa to Matthew (Amy), Jordan (Sarah), Justine (Bryan), Nicholas, Sydney, Tyler, Jillian, Tom and Great-Papa to Eli. Dear brother of Leo (Lorette) of Coquitlam, BC, Irene Roy (the late John) of Grand Falls, NB, Anita White (Gerry) of Fredericton, NB, Dorine Colton (Brendan) of Bathurst, NB and Bertha O’Leary (Larry) of Fredericton, NB, as well as many nieces and nephews. Also fondly remembered by sister-in-law Claudette McAllister (Murray) of Ottawa, ON. Predeceased by his parents Pierre and Nazarine (née Bourque) LeBlanc, brothers and sisters Mary, Mary Ann, Emile (all in infancy), Yvonne, Emma, Lena, Julie, Father Joseph, Florence and Sister Doris NDSC.

Born in Minto, NB, on February 20, 1931, Dad left home at the tender age of 17 for O’Leary, PEI, to commence a 42-year career with Scotiabank. At the age of 26, he was promoted to Branch Manager (the youngest appointment in the bank). He was transferred numerous times moving to PEI, New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario. He was known as the Renaissance Man to those who were privileged to work under his leadership. He retired in 1990 after 17 years in his final position as Branch Manager of the Second St branch in Cornwall, Ontario. In Cornwall, he served as a Rotarian and was a recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship award. Dad was a parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St Peter’s Catholic Church. He excelled at sports and passed on this love to his children and grandchildren. He was a long-time member of the Cornwall Golf and Country Club, and shot an 86 at the age of 86! He coached and played on many hockey teams throughout his life, and was a member of the Cornwall Old-Timers team (Choo-Choo LeBlanc). Family was everything to him, and with Mom, travelled many miles to participate in numerous family gatherings for sport events, recitals, graduations, church celebrations, and even just for the joy of being together. Dad was genuine, good natured, humble and never expected anything in return. We will miss his wonderful smile and sense of humour.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the care provided by Dr K. Jones and nurses at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, the surgeons and nurses at Sunnybrook Hospital, and all the staff at Castle Peak (Bracebridge) and Riverdale Terrace (Cornwall) retirement residences.
