Francina Donkers (nee Swinkels)

Francina passed away, surrounded by family, on September 29, 2019, at Rockyview General Hospital, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 93 years. Francina was born in Bakel, Netherlands where she spent her early years and lived through the hardships of World War II. She married Martin in 1949, and in the hope of a better life they immigrated to Canada with their two young children in June, 1952. They faced many challenges but through fortitude and hard work they provided a strong foundation for their growing family. Francina is survived by eleven children, John (Betty), Bert (Wilma), Johanna (Curtis), Justin (Nicole), Tina (Dave), Henry (Kim), Frances (Greg), Mary (Stephen), Florence (Steven), Adriane (Chris), Marty (Karen), twenty-five grandchildren in Canada and the USA, eleven great grand-children in Canada, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families in the Netherlands. Francina was predeceased by her husband, Martin, in 1996, sisters Drica and Marie and brothers Harry, Jan and Jacobus. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 8 College St, Ingleside, Ontario on November 2, 2019 at 11am, and will be followed by interment at St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery in Long Sault, Ontario. A reception will follow the interment at The Township of Stormont Community Hall at 2 Mille Roches Rd in Long Sault, Ontario. Condolences may be sent to www.irvinememorial.com.
