Gilles Alfred Demers (Minou)

April 21, 1956 – May 19, 2021

Gilles passed away peacefully at home May 19, 2021 after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born in Montreal on April 21, 1956, growing up with a love for playing and watching baseball, football and hockey. He was a dedicated worker for Sears spending 38 years working many roles and making plenty of friends (Bozo’s & Bozette’s) along the way. Gilles also had a passion for collecting sports cards, stamps and coins, which he loved to organize to show off in his retirement. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone, especially his family. He was consistently putting others first and the size of his heart will be sorely missed. He leaves his memory and love behind with his loving wife and best friend Linda Lavallee; his three kids Julie (Jacques), Olivier (Deborah) and Mark (Karis); his three grandchildren Mark, Jackson and Adriel; his brother Yves(Lise) and nephew Alexandre (Anne-Marie); his mother in-law Huguette, as well as Buttons (the cat he secretly loved) and many friends and family. The Family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all who were involved in Gilles’ care; Steve, Vanessa, Dr. Leigh and the Bayshore team, Claude, Fanny and the EMS team, the Ottawa Hospital’s Oncology, Radiation and Cancer Clinic as well as the Cornwall Hospital, especially Sylvie Belanger. Due to the current pandemic, there will not be a service however there will be a small gathering when restrictions allow.
