RIOPEL, Gracia (Grace) née Labrosse – passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the age of 95 years. Beloved wife of the late Laurent (Larry) Riopel. Loving mother of Joanne Windle (Wayne), Lise Caron (Richard) and Luc Riopel (Kimberley Bergeron). Cherished grandmother of Wesley, Shane, Leam, Nolan, Dawn and Lawrence. Proud great-grandmother of Jace, Evelyn-Grace, Brianne, Tyler and Betty-Grace. Dear daughter of the late Gédéon and Démérise (neé Castonguay) Labrosse. Predeceased by sisters, Alice Bourbonnière, Béatrice Diotte and Cécile Hurtubise and by two brothers, Dorice Labrosse and Léo Labrosse.
She was a dedicated elementary teacher for the SDG French Catholic School Board. Her dedication was evident whether cheering the Cornwall Royals or at her grandsons’ sporting events. She enjoyed gardening, reading and numerous activities offered at the Centre Charles-Émile Claude.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre (Quinn House) for their kind and compassionate care. Funeral arrangements under the care and direction of LAHAIE AND SULLIVAN, CORNWALL FUNERAL HOME, WEST BRANCH, 20 Seventh Street West, (613-932-8482). Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private Memorial Service will be held at Paroisse St. Félix de Valois followed by interment at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the Quinn House at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, 14 York Street, Cornwall, ON K6J 5T2 or online at www.sjccc.ca would be appreciated by the family.
