BARR, Harry Chandler – (Formerly of Canton, NY) Born 8/13/50 in Nyack, NY to William Chandler Barr and Elsie (Burt) Barr. Harry passed away peacefully following complications of surgery for lung cancer in Ann Arbor, Michigan on 1/30 surrounded by family. Harry was a proud Marine who served a tour in Vietnam. He was a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) with 43 years of sobriety. He spent his working years as a heavy equipment operator in Canton, NY and in SD&G Ontario, until his retirement in 2015. As a hard worker and someone who did not like to sit still, Harry continued to work part-time time as a heavy equipment operator in Michigan. Harry loved his family and is survived by his wife Elaine (Poltrick) Barr; his 6 children – Eric (Jessie) Barr, Amy (Lawton) Redman, Amanda (Marcos) Doyle, Christina (Kristen) Barr, and two step sons, Ben (Roxanne) Moore and Ted (Kaitlyn) Moore. He was extremely proud to be Pa Barr to Ian, Alden and Ila Barr; Lilly and Willem Redman; and Marcos and Amelia Doyle. He is also survived by his sister Cheri Curry, Canton NY and brother Jim Barr, Syracuse NY. Harry will be missed by so many family and friends in Canton, NY, Ingleside ON, and Forestville, MI. Harry’s life will be remembered and celebrated in Forestville, MI on 2/9/2019, as well as a service on 2/23/2019 at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 66 Court St, Canton, NY, 13617.
