Homiar Gazdar

13 May, 1934 – 14 February, 2022

GAZDAR, Homiar – It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Homiar Gazdar, a cherished husband, father and grandpa, who passed away peacefully surrounded by family at their residence on Valentines Day. Beloved husband of Aloo (née Turner) of 61 years and loving father of Farhiz Gazdar (Sheila Tallon) of Cornwall. Proud and beloved grandpa of Rayanne Gazdar (Shawn) and Ashtin Gazdar (Bryana), both of Cornwall. Cherished brother-in-law of Dr. Yazdi Turner (Mahnaz) of Pointe-Claire, QC, Katy Divecha (late Dinshaw) and Dr. Prous Turner (Mehru) all of Mumbai, India. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Dadi and Rati (née Lally) Gazdar, his infant daughter Phiruza and his siblings Soli, Thrity, Perin and Khurshed. Homiar, a faithful Zoroastrian, was born on May 13th, 1934 in Pune, India. He met the love of his life Aloo in 1952 and married in 1960 in Mumbai. In 1970 Aloo, Homiar and their young son Farhiz emigrated to Canada, arriving in Montreal. Homiar worked as a Ship Chandler for Seagulf Marine for 35 years. Together, they lived the Canadian Dream and built a life of which they were very proud. Homiar enjoyed all types of music, was a die-hard Montréal Canadians fan and the biggest “foodie”, always making sure everyone was well fed. Homiar will be remembered for his kindness, gentleness, sweetness, generosity, humbleness and beautiful smile. Anyone who was blessed to have crossed his path is a better person because of it. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Paramed’s PSWs Prafula, Mohammed, Ryley, James and his nurses Georgia and Steve and Dr. Menon, for all of their care, compassion and for treating him like family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to LAHAIE AND SULLIVAN CORNWALL FUNERAL HOME, WEST BRANCH, 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482) and a private service will be held. The family wish to extend an invitation to family and friends to view the Prayer Service on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11 a.m. at ( https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/47495 ), live or on replay.
