It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Chellew on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at her home in Campbell River, BC. Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Irene leaves behind her loving husband Daniel Chellew of 62 years, daughters Lori Courtney, Debbie (Rick) Jager, Grandchildren Cody (Tamara) Courtney, Shawnee Courtney, Dakota Jager, Kimberly Jager and her Great-Grandchildren Mia and Erica Courtney. Also her siblings Germaine (Roger) Stang, Jean (Vinny) Bissonette, Leona (Joe) Kensley and Helen (Gilles) Quenneville.

Irene was predeceased by her parents Ronaldo and Livina Lamarche, brothers Armond, Hector, Lionel, Ronnie, Richard and sister Theresa.

Irene was born in Cornwall, Ontario, she was one of eleven children. Irene worked with National Revenue, played sports, and loved to skate. She came from a musical family and knew how to have a good time. Irene married her life partner Daniel in 1959 in Ottawa. She followed her husband Daniel in his military life. She stayed at home to raise her children and opened her home to many. Dan and Irene moved across Canada where they settled in Campbell River, BC. She loved BC and the ocean and would later paint pictures of the ocean.

Those who knew Irene appreciated her quick wit and sense of humour. She was a fighter right until the end. She took pride in her home and family. She was happiest during family gatherings. Irene loved to talk, shop and to make others laugh. She was so stubborn and strong – a Lamarche trait. She will be missed by her family and friends.

A very special thanks to Campbell River Hospital, Doctor Lebeuf, Dr Farias, Home Support Team and Faith at London Drugs. In honouring her final wishes, there will be no funeral services. In memorial donations to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation.
