Isaac George Lavallee

7 January, 1997 – 24 March, 2021

LAVALLEE, ISAAC GEORGE On January 7, 1997, the world was blessed with Isaac. Fittingly, his name means laughter. He loved life from minute one, and he accomplished more than many in his 24 years. He was loved and cherished by his parents, Geraldine (MacNeil) and his dad, Garry, his grandparents Johnny and Theresa Lavallee and Martha and Archie A. MacNeil. Isaac loved his family and never missed an opportunity to spend time with his aunts, uncles, and cousins. He loved his girl Rylee, his many, many friends and his dog Thunder (17 years). He loved country music, Ketchup and Nutella. Isaac had perfect timing with a joke or comeback, stood up for the underdog, and loved his friends unconditionally. He was a gifted student, and never wavered in his beliefs. From an early age, a few things were apparent. He liked to build things, small and large, and he loved sports. Both would serve him well in his short life. While he loved and played many sports, what he loved more was the brotherhood of his teammates from the Cornwall Bulldogs Lacrosse, the Holy Trinity Falcons, the Eastern Ontario Wild, the Charlan Rebels, and the Casselman Vikings, just to name a few. In his last years, he was so proud to be a member of The University of Ottawa Gee Gees Field Lacrosse Team. Isaac graduated from the University of Ottawa as a Civil Engineer and was looking forward to starting his career. Unfortunately, God had other plans for Isaac. In November, 2019, he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. After exhaustive surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, the cancer proved to be too much for his strong and beautiful heart. It is a testament to his character that even when going through his worst days, he didn’t complain, he worried about others, and always took the time to say thank you. For those who loved him, time will be measured as life with Isaac and life after Isaac. His last wish was to go home to Creignish where he said “I can be with Mom, Dad and watch over them from the Hill” at the Creignish Church. Under the direction of the M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, a drive past memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Parish, 2900 Second Street East, Cornwall, Ontario on Thursday April 8th, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a private family service will be held. Isaac will be brought home to Creignish at a later date. If you played on a team with Isaac please wear your jersey if you plan to attend. Contributions to the Ottawa Hospital General Campus Cancer Centre or to the University of Ottawa Field Lacrosse Program in Isaac’s name would be greatly appreciated. Further information re: Donations, Live Stream and Thank you will be available on the website. In his words, we will take his loss “one day at a time”. We ask God for the strength and courage to live up to his example.

Thank You from Isaac and His Family We will try to keep it short but the list is long. Growing up Isaac loved to spend time with both the Scheffer and the Leger families. Garry and I wish to thank them for being the best ‘other’ parents to our boy. We never had to worry when he was with his friends. We wish to thank his work families at Play It Again Sports, Canadian Helicopters, City of Cornwall, Ikea, Leon’s, and his last employer, McIntosh Perry Engineering you all became, not only employers but friends to Isaac. We wish to thank our sports families for all the support, especially over the last year and for all the great memories. He was so very happy to receive calls and messages from his heroes in the last challenging days. Thanks to Bob and Beth Smith, he was amazed to receive messages from Dominic Ducharme and Shea Weber of his beloved Habs. To Bob for sending him his 1989 Stanley Cup game jersey. He was honoured and your thoughtfulness brought a welcome distraction from the hard days. Through the Pallotta family (Jules), Isaac was able to talk to Karl and P.K. Subban as well as Lindsay Vonn. He could not believe it! We were never sure (sorry P.K.) which one he was more excited to talk to. Seriously, you were a role model for Isaac. To Andrew Willson, who put Isaacs name on the puck used at the Senators game, on the day Isaac went to heaven. Isaac would have been so happy and honoured.. To Connor and the boys, thank you for the video message from Isaac’s friends and teammates and for the message, from ‘Spittin’ Chiclets’. We all had a much needed laugh and appreciated the kind and colourful words from Paul Bissonette. To Talia for the video of High River- You know how he loved country music. To Ashley MacIsaac , for writing and playing a tune for Isaac, for his grandpa Archie, and for the hills of Creignish where Isaac will rest. You have been a loyal and thoughtful light in good times and bad for our family. Archie and Martha would be proud. To the best Aunt/Godmother a kid could have, Warna MacNeil-Brenning. You stayed with Isaac from the beginning of his life to the end. He loved you dearly and was always so happy to be with you. To the honorary Aunts, Mary Anne Willson, Jan Mooney, Verna Hilliard and Paula King, who made his last days the best they could be. You looked after all of us but especially Isaac when the burden was too heavy to carry. To Alanna and Rylee Leger and everyone who so generously contributed to the GoFundMe account, it helped so much to make Isaac’s last wishes come true, and enabled him to remain at home with his family. Thank You. For the blessing of our health care and to the people we have met. Dr. Garth Nicholas, Dr. Graham Cook, Dr. Joel Werier , Dr. Moein Momtazi, Dr. Jen Leppard and their teams. To everyone in the chemotherapy and radiology departments at the Ottawa General Cancer Center, and the staff of 6NE and 5East ,the Champlain LHIN and the Home Care Team, we thank you. To the porters, orderlies, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers and pharmacists, every action and kind word was appreciated. To the staff at the Rexall Pharmacy at Parkdale and Wellington who provided us with such care and compassion throughout Isaacs journey, Thank you. To Dr. Lisa Cross- When they say that God puts people in your life when you most need them, you answered our prayers and became part of our family. We will never forget your compassion and kindness. God Bless you. To Fr. Tom Riopelle who baptized Isaac in Fitzroy Harbour and gave him his last Sacrament ,thank you. Finally, to our family, words are not enough to let you know how much you are appreciated and loved. This journey has taught us: Gratitude for Isaac’s life. Gratitude for others. Never take a day for granted. We ask in Isaac’s name that you don’t hesitate- make the time. Reach out to others, with a call, a message, a casserole, biscuit, or a kind word. Sincerely, The Lavallee’s.
