Jeff Read

Thursday, November 29th, 1951 Sunday, August 8th, 2021

Sadly, we lost our Jeff on August 8, 2021 in his 69th year. Jeff dearly wanted to return to his beloved Florida to go for a ride on his Harley, sadly, he passed away in hospital due to complications with esophageal cancer before he could.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years Dorothy (Dollie) Sauson, his children Christopher (Jaimi Auger), Jennifer (Jeff McElwain) and Michael (Bobby Thomson), and six grandchildren Jesse, Alex, Geena, Lana, Oliver and Benn, his siblings Susan, Brian, Linda and Philip, his Aunt Betty, Uncle Arn, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

The second child of Clift and Lois (Seal), he grew up in Dorval. Jeff’s intelligence and curiosity were evident from the start. There was always music, he loved playing his guitar on stage with a few of his best friends.
In the 1970’s he started working for a company that ultimately became Debro Chemicals where he met friends that he still called friends well over 45 years later. Jeff and Dollie fell in love with Florida on their first visit in the 80’s and and years later purchased a small house in Kings Isle Port St.Lucie, FL overlooking the water. It became their winter retreat. They spent a few happy years making many friends among their neighbors and came to love a few.

He loved the winter Beach Parties, Bbq’s parties with friends and going on bike rides with his buddies. Jeff touched many lives. He will be immensely missed.

Heartfelt thanks to Dr Joanna Gotfrit and the team at The Ottawa and Cornwall Hospital Cancer Departments and Cornwall Palliative Care unit, and supportive cancer care, and the family and friends who stood with him.

Special thanks to our children “my heart and soul” who walked beside me every step of my journey.

A celebration of a life well lived, will take place when COVID restrictions are removed.

Friends wishing to remember Jeff are encouraged to make a donation to Cancer Foundation.
