FERGUSON, John Duncan (Jack) – A celebration of life for John Duncan (Jack) Ferguson (Member of the Sharamazda Shriners, Barrie) who died Feb. 21, 2019 in Barrie, ON after a brief illness, was held on March 17, 2019 at Innisfil Funeral Home, Stroud, ON. Jack was born April 21, 1934 to Charles and Leaffie Ferguson of South Branch, Cornwall. Predeceased by his parents and sister Mary Jane and by his wives Betty (mother of Cindy), and Phyllis (mother of Lynn, Carol, Dale and Gina). Survived by his daughter Cindy Ferguson and his partner Doris Murphy Barrie, brothers Gordon Ferguson (Elizabeth) Williamstown, Kennie Ferguson (Bev) Cornwall, sisters Ruth Balkwill (the late Hugh) Denver, Sheila Prince (Ron) Ottawa, Marilyn Cameron (Ralph) Ottawa, and Linda Putnam (Paul) Winnipeg. Also survived by his stepdaughters Lynn Petley (late Steve) Sarnia, Carol Dewar (Gordon) Barrie, Gina Gadd (Kevin) Sarnia, and stepson Dale Crozier (Cathy) Keswick. Jack graduated in 1960 from McGill’s MacDonald College with a BSc in Agricultural Engineering. His working years were in sales, his first job being with International Harvester as a blockman in Quebec and the Maritimes. He later worked for Blackwood Hodge (heavy equipment) in Toronto. He finally worked for UNX a plastic tile manufacturer in Orangeville before retiring to his cottage on Big Bay Point, Barrie and spending about 20 winters at his home in Florida. Jack never forgot his roots and returned yearly to our family reunions entertaining us with his adventure stories and lively music from his harmonica. He will be forever missed for his love of life, family, cars and boats. He worked hard and played hard. Lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews and his large extended family.
