Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. John Paul Vachon of North Lancaster; age 90 years. Beloved husband of Ann Vachon (nee Cameron). Loving father of Gordon Vachon (Elaine) of Green Valley and Brent Vachon (Manon) of Alexandria. Cherished grandfather of Lee-Ann Vachon (Mike Hull), Steven Vachon (Mallory) and Amanda Lalonde (Stephan), and great grandfather of Jaxson Lalonde, Spencer Lalonde, and Ryker Vachon. Dear brother of Jacqueline Samson (Fern) of Bainsville. Predeceased by one sister Alice Amelotte (Roma of Cornwall), and by his parents Herve and Laurette Vachon (nee Ranger). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. John Paul started playing guitar at the age of 10 years old, was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers, and was inducted into the Celtic Music Hall of Fame in 2016. He was also an avid camper for many years, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a cheese maker, and drove school bus for 20 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Finnan’s Cathedral, Alexandria on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 11 am. Cremation will follow. Those who wish to attend the Funeral Service must call the Funeral Home, Mon. to Fri. between 9 am & 5 pm, to register your attendance. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772).
