Laura Gladys Duffey
27 July, 1932 – 10 August, 2021
Miss Laura Duffey of Cornwall, Ontario passed away peacefully on August 10, 2021 at the Cornwall Community Hospital at the age of 89 years. Laura is survived and sadly missed by her twin sister Leila Papic (Gus) and her sisters Nina Crump (Charles) and Bessie Meeds (Wesley). Preceded in death by her parents Robert and Hessie Duffey, sisters Elsie Jackson (Percy) and Myrtle Freeland (Reginald) and brother Donald Duffey (Charlotte).
Laura was born Jul 27, 1932 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She followed her sisters east to Cornwall, Ontario and was employed by the Hotel Dieu Hospital where she worked in the lab for eighteen years. Her love of travel took her to Ireland, Scotland, England and Florida. Every Christmas for many years, Laura returned home to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to spend the holiday with her sister Bessie. She loved to spend time with family; nieces and nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, many of whom have wonderful memories of growing up with “Aunt Laura”. Most will remember her laughter, her jokes and how special everyone was to her.
Her family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the staff of Heartwood Nursing Home for their excellent care of Laura over the years she lived there. Special thanks also to the CCH staff of the ER and JMP 2 and Dr Zaid for their compassionate care while she was there.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2pm on Friday, August 20, 2021 at St Lawrence Valley Cemetery.
