POIRIER, Leo – Mr. Leo Poirier at Cornwall Hospice on Tuesday October 1, 2019 at the age of 91 years. Retired Foreman at Domtar; Member of the 9th Medical Corps – affiliated with the SD & G Highlanders, and Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 297. Beloved husband of 70 years to Cecile (née Marion) Poirier. Loved father of Susanne Matthews (John) and Michele Smith (Ivan). Sadly missed by 5 grandchildren Gregory, Jason, Angela, Chantal, Christopher; and 10 great-grandchildren. Loved son of the late Alderic and Florida (née Carriere) Poirier. Dear brother of Wilburn Poirier (late Jacqueline) and Claire Lavictoire (late Paul). Predeceased by his siblings Philias Poirier (late Julie), Irene Riley (late Wilburn), Lorette Garlough (late Claude), and Verna Samson (late Ovila “Sam”). There will be no visitation or ceremony. Rite of Committal to take place at a later date in Notre Dame Cemetery, Cornwall. If so desired contributions in his memory to Cornwall Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
