Leslie O’Shaughnessy
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie O’Shaughnessy – peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital, on Monday, August 14, 2023 at the age of 69. He is survived by his loving wife Karen (née Dionne). Cherished father of Kayla Walsh (Matthew) of Finch and Kelly O’Shaughnessy of Cornwall. Proud grandpa of Easton, Kollyns, and Brooks Walsh. Dear brother of Wayne (Alice), Doug (Linda), Don (Joce), and Darin, all of Cornwall, and brother-in-law of Richard and Carol Dionne of Ottawa. Predeceased by his parents Garnet and Doris O’Shaughnessy (née Loucks). Leslie will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Leslie dedicated almost 30 years to municipal politics, holding many titles, representing the townships of Charlottenburgh and South Glengarry and the City of Cornwall, most notably as the Warden of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry (1997) and the Mayor of the City of Cornwall (2014-2018). He truly enjoyed every moment.
In accordance with Leslie’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Maggie Youci Yu and the nursing staff of the Cornwall Community Hospital for the excellent care and support Leslie received.
