Lorna Mae Youngs

With profound sadness I announce the passing of my dear sister Lorna Youngs, on February 8, 2025, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, age 69.

She was a gentle soul, always eager to hear stories about family and friends. We grew up together, spending our early summers on Ault Island, a place she loved. And, for the last 23 years, she has called the Island her home, close to family and friends.

She had a special talent for baking; those who knew her were often the recipient of trays of goodies, especially around Christmas time.

A career at the Cornwall Public Library lasted for 40 years, never late for work and because of her sense of dedication and duty, very seldom took a sick day. In her retirement years, she became an avid golfer and was a member at the Morrisburg Golf Club, where she made many friends and lasting relationships. I was lucky enough to be by her side for many games and events held there.

She was predeceased by her parents, Nellie May (Johnson) and Bernard Youngs.

She leaves behind to mourn her passing, myself, Nelda Hickman (John); her nieces, Natalie Robertson (Dave), Tara Korać (Derek), Kelcie Grant; and nephew, Ryan Hickman (Amanda); great nieces and nephews: Tanner, Tristan, Piper, Charlee, Bryanna Thomas (Brodie), Wyatt, Nyla, Lux, Madison and Chloe; and great great niece, Taylor Thomas.

She loved each one with all her heart. Her spirit will live on in our hearts forever.

Respecting her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Arrangement under the care and direction of Lahaie and Sullivan West Branch, 20 Seventh Street W, Cornwall, ON (613-932-8482).

A graveside service will take place in Cornwall in the summer, followed by a Celebration of her life on Ault Island.

Memorial Donations to the Cornwall OSPCA or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
