Marcel “George” Laderoute
LADEROUTE, Marcel “George” – peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Monday May 19, 2025 at the age of 80 years. Dear son of the late George A. Laderoute and the late Yvette (née Larue) Laderoute. Loving brother of Dolores Bentley (Larry), Doris Pelletier (the late Gerry), Gerry Laderoute, Denis Laderoute (Muriel) and Carmen Bazinet (Roger). Predeceased by his siblings Irene, Ronald and Lionel. Survived by his sister-in-law Nancy (Robin Chandler). He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, they held a special place in his heart. Marcel was rarely seen without his faithful companion, his beloved dog Riccoe, who was by his side for 15 years. Known affectionately as a “dog whisperer,” he had a special bond with man’s best friend. Marcel lived his life with a deep love for his family. He was a member of the Van Doos of Canadian Forces Base Valcartier. A man of faith, he attended mass every Sunday. He was an enthusiastic dart player and a proud, lifelong member of the Moose Lodge, where he served actively in various roles over the years. Marcel also found great joy in playing cards and dancing. A dedicated worker, Marcel believed every job should be done right. He will be deeply missed, but we find comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved mother, Yvette whom he cherished dearly. Marcel had a signature wink that let you know he was always ready with a tease and a smile. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Home 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482). Services will be held privately. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
