Mary Catherine Foster (McDonald)

Tuesday, February 15th, 1921 Friday, November 5th, 2021.
At Cornwall Hospice, on Friday, November 5, 2021. Predeceased by her husband, Charlie Foster. Predeceased by her parents, Angus McDonald and Janet Anne MacDonald; brothers Angus, Hughie, Duncan and Donnie, and sisters Anne Belair and Margaret Hamilton. Survived by her two siblings, Hazel and Ewen. Mary lived an extraordinary life. 100 full years, surrounded by close friends and family. She traveled extensively with her husband, Charlie, all over North America, making four highlight trips to Hawaii. Mary leaves behind many close friends in her old neighbourhood in Mississauga and close friends she made, more recently, while at the Riverdale Terrace retirement residence in Cornwall. While Mary and Charlie never had children of their own, they would tell you they were very fortunate to have so many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces to shower with love. A devout Christian, Mary’s faith never, ever, wavered. Nor did her everlasting love for her husband, who predeceased her by 31 years. Mary will forever be remembered for her Santa Claus gingerbread cookies and for her strong faith in prayer. But she’ll be remembered most for her fun-filled relationship with Charlie. Remarkably, Mary passed away peacefully on their wedding anniversary. We would like to thank all the hard working staff and administration at Riverdale Terrace in Cornwall. You showed tremendous caring and kindness to Mary and a strong dedication to your profession, both before and throughout the pandemic. You kept everybody safe, which made all of our lives that much easier. An enormous thank you to the Bayshore nurses, who worked well beyond their shifts to ensure Mary was comfortable and secure in her home, and to the doctors, nurses and staff at Hospice who carried us on their shoulders through the final days. Your professionalism, your caring and empathy for Mary will never, ever, be forgotten. Thank you. Relatives and friends can gather with Mary and her family at the entrance to St-Finnan’s Cathedral an hour in advance of the funeral service. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Saturday, November 13.2021. We ask that everyone in attendance bring proof of double vaccination for Covid-19. Mary’s final resting place will be beside her husband, Charlie, at St-Finnan’s Cathedral in Alexandria, Ontario. If you would like to make a donation, please consider Carefor Hospice Cornwall. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772).
