Mary Jean Metivier
Jean passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2023 at the age of 92. After starting her career at Toronto’s Blessed Sacrament School, she applied for an overseas teaching posting with the Department of National Defence and landed in Canadian Forces Base Baden-Soellingen (4 Wing), West Germany in 1958. Upon her arrival, a colleague named Gilles Métivier helped her move in her trunk. From that moment, Jean and Gilles became inseparable until Gilles’ passing in 2020. She is survived by her sons Eric of Toronto, and Kurt of North Vancouver and her daughters-in-law Rita and Lori.
