It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mary Lourdes Kennedy “Mary Lou” (nee Richard) on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the age of 93 in Ottawa, Ontario. Mary Lou was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick on March 5, 1928, and is the beloved daughter of the late Rt. Hon. Clovis and Alice Bernadette Richard. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ottawa University and became a member of the Victorian Order of Nurses. She moved to British Columbia to start her nursing career where she met her husband William Douglas (deceased 2003), in Vancouver, BC. Mary Lou was a devout practicing catholic and member of the Catholic Woman’s League. She will be fondly remembered by her children Iris, Michael (Kathy), Heather (Julian), Thomas (Joyce), Andrew (Chelsea), the late Stephen, and by her grandchildren Jessica (Spencer) Michelle, Emily, Katherine, Victoria, and William. Thanks to residents, families and to the many staff at Villa Marconi Long Term Care and the Ottawa Hospital, who showed sincere compassion, respect, and care for Mary Lou in her final years. A controlled attendance visitation will be held at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772) on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 11 am -1 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Finnan’s Cathedral, Alexandria on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Those who wish to attend the attendance controlled visitation and the Funeral Service must call the Funeral Home Monday – Friday between 9am-5pm to register your attendance. Those who wish to view the funeral live online, may do so at the following link www.facebook.com/kavproductions/live beginning on Tuesday, April 6 at 1:30 pm. The Funeral Service will also be available at www.munromorris.com after the Funeral has completed to view at anytime. In light of the current pandemic a celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2022 where family and friends can reunite, details will be forthcoming.
