Maureen Lise “Mo” Roussy
Tuesday, November 30th, 1954 – Saturday, October 30th, 2021
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen (Mo) Lise Roussy at the Cornwall Hospice on Saturday, October 30, 2021.
Her family was by her side.
Mo was 66 years old. She was the beloved companion of Vincent Lortie, and the loving mother of Ross MacDonald, Bridget Roussy (Mike), Rachel Roussy (Eric), and Chase Lapierre (Jenna). She will be missed by her 5 grand-children and 3 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Maurice and Doris (nee Herbert).
Mo was a headstrong, independent sister to Kathleen (Kas) Roussy, Daniel (Dan) Roussy, Paul Roussy (Lucy) and Michel Roussy (Lucie).
She was the feisty one – as the middle child in a family of 5 kids, she had to be! She was also the household peacekeeper, trying to resolve family feuds with fairness.
As a mother, she instilled in her children kindness and consideration, alongside confidence and loyalty.
Later in her full life, Mo became a social butterfly and developed a love for travel. She had an insatiable spirit of adventure.
And forget about being shy – she loved meeting new people!
Take Key West, Florida for example. Spotting members of a congregation spilling out from a Presbyterian Church, Mo, always the inquisitive one, walked up to the group and joined in the post mass celebration, which included lots of dancing!
There would be health challenges over these last few months, but Mo, always the fighter, looked to another, Winston Churchill, for inspiration:
“If you’re going through hell, keep going.”
That was our Mo. Sister, daughter, mother, grand-mother, great grand-mother.
Our family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Cornwall Hospice, including Personal Support Workers, Nurses, Doctors and Volunteers. The care given to Maureen and the support for our family won’t soon be forgotten.
Attendance controlled visitation will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 9 AM to 10:15 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, at St Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, 434 Second Street, West, Cornwall.
Interment to follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the controlled Funeral Mass MUST CALL 613-938-3888 to attend.
Masks and physical distancing are required. Donations in memory can be made to Cornwall Hospice. Online condolences may be made at : www.wilsonfuneralhome.ca
