Nicolaas Dirven (Nick)
1930 – 2020
Nick passed away at Winchester Memorial Hospital on December 14, 2020 at the age of 90 years old. He was the beloved husband of Jo-anne (nee Pruysten) for 68 years. Father to Anne Hobbs, Berny Dirven (Carol), Marion Hakvoort (Arnie), Frances den Dunnen (George), and the late Carolyn Dirven-Jarvis. He enjoyed his time with his grandchildren Daniel, Rachel, Tanya, Kim, Nick, Rebecca, Devon, Rodney, Selena, Aimee and Corey. He was also blessed with 10 great grandchildren: Madeleine, Rowan, Marly, Totreona, Griffin, Morgan, Abby, Charlie, Izzy and Addy.Nick is survived by his brothers Cor (Agassiz BC,) Peter (Bainsville, ON) and his sister Riet (The Netherlands.) He is pre-deceased by his father Bernardus Dirven, his mother Maria Lambregts, nine brothers and sisters and his youngest daughter. To honor Mr. Dirven’s wishes, cremation has taken place.The family is grateful for his life well-lived and for the kind and considerate care he was given over the years at both Winchester District Memorial Hospital and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. For the past two years, he lived at the Garden Villa Retirement Residence in Chesterville where he was very content and grateful for the kindness of the residents and the staff.
