DANCAUSE, Paul Alexander – At age 64, peacefully, on Friday, July 5th, 2019, at The Ottawa Hospital General Campus. Paul will be forever loved and cherished by his wife Valerie and their three children, Renée, Caelan and Isabel. Dear son of the late Hubert and Teen Dancause. Survived by his brother John (Debra), sisters Julianne Lindstrom (Elmet), Kathy Panchuk (Jim), Merrily LaFrance (Marc), Carol Would (Marty), and Susan, and by his 15 wonderful nieces and nephews. Paul was born and raised in Cornwall, Ontario, was a graduate of Dalhousie Law School in 1984 and called to the Ontario Bar in 1986. He commenced his sole practice in January, 1997 in the area of Wills and Estates and Estate Litigation and represented clients at all Court levels including the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada. Paul was well respected and highly regarded in the Ottawa Estate Litigation Bar and the legal community. Some of his other accomplishments include: Member of the Estates Subcommittee in Toronto; Presenter of numerous estate-related topics at Continuing Legal Education and CPD conferences over the past 25 years; Professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law; and, former head instructor at the Ottawa Bar Admission Course (Estate Planning and Administration). The family would like to express its sincerest appreciation for the exceptional care given to Paul by the doctors and staff of The Ottawa Hospital General Campus, the Elizabeth Bruyere Centre, Dr. Bridget Thompson, Dr. Lindsay Flinn, and Dr. Tara Tucker of the Central Palliative Group, and the nurses and Personal Support Workers of St. Elizabeth Health. Friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of HULSE, PLAYFAIR & McGARRY, 1200 Ogilvie Road, Ottawa, on Monday, July 15th from 2p.m. to 4p.m. and 7p.m. to 9p.m. A Memorial Ceremony will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, July 16th at 11a.m. If so desired, donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or the charity of your choice.
