ROY, Rene Junior – At home, surrounded by family on Thursday, April 30, 2020 in his 79th year. Our hero fought a short but tough battle with cancer. He leaves his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Naomi (Collins) Roy. Cherished father of Trina Baron, (Conrad), Kim Morrissette, (Pat) Shawn Roy, (Cynthia), Tracy Roy, (Aurelle). Rene will be missed by his closest brother Richard Roy of Cornwall and his Brother Francis Roy also of Cornwall. Rene is predeceased by his parents, Levi and Irene (Oliver) Roy, sister Corrine Roy, Eileen Ceasor and brothers Rene, Benjamin and Bernard Roy Rene spent several years doing what he loved. A chef by trade, Rene worked at St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake, Chateau Laurier and Central Park Lodge in Ottawa. He spent the last 27 years here in Cornwall at the Hotel Dieu Hospital now known as Cornwall Community Hospital. Proud Papa, Grandpa and Papa Smurf to 10 Grandchildren. Amanda, Alisha, Rachelle, Crystal, Lisa, Jonathan, Faith, Allisa, Brandon & Meghan. Great Grandfather to Nevada, Landon, Santino, Braelynn & Landyn. Rene was loved and will be missed by so many. Cremation services entrusted to the M. John Sullivan Funeral Home, 341 Pitt Street (across from city hall) Cornwall. Rite of Committal at Notre Dame Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
